Personal Training has always been about helping someone achieve their goals through a structured fitness program. For 16 years and counting I have serviced 20,000+ individual training sessions and have met so many amazing people along the way. From someone just starting out, the person getting married, turning 40 or 50, post surgical rehab, seniors, neuro-diverse, or anyone looking for guidance in the gym, PERSONAL TRAINING IS FOR YOU.
There is nothing more terrifying than trying to navigate a gym on your own. Sure there are machines everywhere, but knowing how to properly use them, what muscles are being targeted, or if that machine is even a good fit for you is just a short list of what a Credentialed Trainer can do for you. We are trained and educated on how to make your personal goals make sense, and how we will achieve them by following a personalized training program designed for long-term, lifelong success. In my personal experience, most people don't want to pay someone to hold their hand and go from one machine to the next. Show them how to use the machines so when they come to the gym on their own time, they know what is expected and also how to use everything.
Personal Training at its root is Personal and that is how programming should be, it is never ego driven and most general populations don't need to train at the level we do. They simply need help at improving their quality of movement, building baseline levels of strength, balance, and mobility paired with simple nutritional guidance to align with the demands of training and everyday life. Making someone do endless amounts of burpees and crushing their legs just show how incompetent of a trainer you are and that you simply do not care about your client, let alone understanding basic principles of long-term programming. People aren't paying us to torture them or to restrict calories, they are paying us for our knowledge, expertise and to help them feel a little more badass each day.
In the past 6 months we have doubled the amount of personal training clients at our gym Altamont Performance Lab. While we are a full-time Athlete Development Facility focusing on Year Round Strength and Conditioning, working with the general populations was something our building was missing. What we do at APL isn't just for athletes, strength training and being "strong" is for everyone and it is something we pride ourselves on being able to connect with so many people in our amazing community.
