What I Learned as a Strength Coach in 2022.....

2022 was one of my BEST Years in the Fitness Industry and as a Strength Coach. Our business Altamont Performance Lab celebrated its 4th Year and we watched some of our longest tenured athletes go off to fulfill their dream of playing collegiate sports.

Kieran Davis is off at Charleston Southern University getting ready for his first season playing D1 Baseball and will be starting at first base for the Buccaneers. Vanessa Lang is getting ready for her freshman year at College of San Mateo where she will be a starting infielder for the reigning champ Bulldogs. Janelle Bergmann is battling the cold up in North Dakota as she prepares for her freshman year of softball for the D2 Marauders. During winter break we also got to spend time with Natalie Laiolo who just won the MIAA Regular Season Conference Title with her Volleyball Team at Northwest Missouri State.

One thing I have learned in my 15 years as a Coach is that the relationships we build last well beyond someone training at our facility. Athletes become family and our connections become stronger once you go off into the world, seeing athletes come back on their breaks reassures that I have the greatest career on the planet. The goal of our program is to prepare you for the highest level possible, to give you the strength and confidence to succeed at sports and life, and to know that a support system will be with you whenever you need it.

As we move into 2023 and Year 5 at APL, I say thank you to those still along for the ride. To our current seniors, keep doing what you love and always have fun along the way, go ball out this season and kick ass while doing it. To the younger athletes, fall in love with the entire process and you will amaze yourself at what you will achieve. Stay consistent and never stop lifting weights, less screen time and more time picking up dumbbells. To our newest student athletes, you are in the best hands and care in town, there is NO ONE that does what we do at APL and you should be proud to train with us because we are proud to have you at our home.
